I picked up this book while waiting at the railway station of my hometown. The good thing about the book is it's narrative style. The passion of the author in Mughal history is quite evident. The sincerity in presentation of the characters is commendable. Certain information , unavailable in a history book, are presented in a lively manner.
Although on the surface the book talks about life and times of a Mughal court, the socio-economic conditions in medieval India form the important backdrop. Treachery, jealousy, love, passion, revenge create a gripping historical narrative. It describes Emperor Akbar's strength as an Administrator and his weaknesses as a father.
